Best Buy Numbers: Gone

Remember the infamous Best Buy Wall Numbers I posted about a while back? I have an update.

Call me crazy, but it seems — especially after this ominous comment — that I might be that one guy who ruins it for everybody else:

What you're seeing is, well, what you're not seeing — the magical, revealing, way-too-public store performance numbers have been totally removed from all the Portland area Best Buy stores I visited last weekend. All that's left is a swath of slightly off-color wall. (And, in some cases, the number holders themselves.)

Unsurprising, but still, bummer. Fare thee well, product replacement plans. Adieu, mon shrink.

If anybody has a copy of the memo that made this change happen, send it over! :)

Funny as I noticed the other day that I couldn't find any of those numbers at the Best Buy around me. I am in New Hampshire, and I was at the Nashua Best Buy. I am not sure whether they ever had the numbers up, but they definitely did not as of last week.

I remember feeling a bit disappointed at not being able to see them. Ah well, guess I started reading your blog a bit too late ;)

You should put some numbers outside your house, just for fun.

Keep looking for your picture on the wall with "Wanted" at the top, heh.

If shrink numbers aren't in the front of the store, check the employee break room (usually on the way to the bathrooms). At least this is where we kept them at Office Max.

The newest store near me never had The Numbers, but twice now they've announced shrink and PRP numbers over the intercom, broken down by department.

It seems like The Numbers are a much less conspicuous way to inform their employees (since they're not labeled, y'know), but who am I to question BBUY?

I used to work at that exact BestBuy off airport way... worst job of my life, I can never shop there again! They had a time where each cashier would get a balloon everytime they suckered a customer into getting a service plan. I didn't have any balloons because I'm too nice to bother people with that garbage.

The store in Sunset Hills, MO took down their numbers about a month after your post.

LOL the whole best buy numbers posts were funny, especially the ominous comment~ you blog must be quite popular!

I think a really really really old best buy here had those numbers, but the one much closer that I go to now doesn't. Don't think they have had...not sure. Would've been nice to stroll by to see the shrink percentage.
